OZKDS 014 - LP (ozonokids, 2010)

Price: 10.00€

"Dusty, trainyard rumbles with a lone horn sounding somewhere in the darkness. Wounded soundtracks a series of moods that might find a place on a Godspeed You Black Emperor set, or a Bill Dixon set. Trumpeter Mark Cunningham drags and smears red oxide tones across plated beats. A moment later heís producing shimmery tones like oil on a puddle. Drummer Arnau Sala and guitarist Adrian de Alfonso are interesting enough on their own, the latter exploring territory that embraces Derek Baileyís late phase and Vernon Reid at his most abstractÖBestia Ferida have a strong group craft, hard-edged and muscular, but donít stint on detail or beauty."

Josetxo Grieta "The Art Of Distraction"
OZKDS 013 - LP (ozonokids, 2008)

PRICE: 12.00€

"Harsh old-school noise from artist Josetxo Anitua, who passed on just before this album was released. Long tracks of real-life torture, an agonizing crush of rock-based aggression and primal, baseline emotions that ooze conflict and showcase a forlorn, pained disconnect from reality. Mattin helps to shape these tracks into a dangerous assault, pulling even further away to the extremes than the Billy Bao records, but Anitua himself drops the veil towards the end of side A, leaving nothing but his voice, processed into submission, and the occasional electronic squeak or martial drum pattern. Howling, mewling destruction akin to old Ramleh and Splintered records, but with a last-straw desperation not heard since the posthumous Steven Jesse Bernstein album on Sub Pop from way back when. Not for the weak. 300 copies, silkscreened inner sleeve."

Fasenuova / Angeldust
OZKDS 012 - LP (ozonokids, 2007)

PRICE: 10.00€

"Ozonokids is a noise/art/action type label from Barcelona, Spain, here with a split LP. Angeldust is an American power electronics group featuring the guy who is M Ax Noi Mach (see review elsewhere) and a couple other guys who lay it down harsh and heavy PE-style with low growling recitation and low growling electronic waves of free-form sonic hatred. They have a freewheeling and aggressive approach that threatens new territory for what really is a pretty limited genre. Fasenuova has a sound that is a little more unknown (though getting less so), some sort of mutant coldwave sound with good punk vocals and all-Spanish lyrics I can understand sometimes, like when he says "maquinas" and "la gente." I would check out this band again. Comes with excellent representative line-art on disco sleeve (pictured)."

M Ax Noi Mach / Unchained
OZKDS011 - 7" EP (ozonokids, 2007)

Price: 5.00€

"...on this split 7" Max Noi Mach’s DR770 beats are quite recognisable: distorted ‘n dirty, but the tempo is really slow ‘n lazy - Comes close to a distorted TR606-sound by moments. The Unchained-side is pretty surprising as well. I got to know him during their 2006-tour as a guitar-wizz, an impression that was reinforced by some of his releases that I heard later on (including The Cardinal Cage CDr). The first track (”Star Time”) on the Unchained side reminds me a lot of some old-school harsh-noise records that are at my place, K2, but with a turntable: fast scratching, switches, stops ‘n goes. The Ozonokids mention feedback, voice and guitar as main sound-sources. Track 2 is more in line with the other releases that I heard of him, but this track two is among the finest he did so far: a more guitaresk sound, saturating and morphing - There should be an mp3 available for download on the Ozonokids-website, but when I checked it had been taken down. Maybe you’re more lucky. Otherwise check mySpace for Unchained, pretty sure he’ll have a couple of soundbits online over there."

Les Aus "Haranna Hanne"
OZKDS 010 - CD (ozonokids, 2006)

PRICE: 8.00€

"Hailing from Spain, the collective known as Les Aus throws some world beat into its hipster swirl, as sitars and guitars collide on tracks like “La Obaga Porta a Soril”. This punk-influenced unit turns in a rather colorful affair, complete with Moroccan folk musical backdrops adorning the spacey art rock of “El Guardia” and the acoustic hand clapping jamboree of “Fent Drecera”. Definitely falling into the something different category, HARANNA HANNE is a musical equivalent of a melting pot, incorporating many unique sounds into its sonic arsenal for people that enjoy left of center music to dig into."

M Ax Noi Mach "One Deep "
OZKDS 009 - 10" (ozonokids, 2006)

Price: 8.00€

"Excellent piece of vinyl. Eight tracks evenly divided over the two sides = 4 at each side for those that like to keep things simple. What you get are straight forward hardcore bangings and ditto loops on which hardly any effects are applied, beats are clean’n catchy, simple’n fast.
The release is quite varied, vocals are used in a very nifty manner, somewhere between human noise box and straight forward distorted singing - or something that comes near it. I’ve seen Max Noi Mach live at De Living, this release comes very close to what the guy does live. Get a copy and ask him for your next gig: billy_newman att hotmail dott com. Oh before I forget to mention it: the sleeve is a nice silk-print with on the front three naked chicks and on the back a pair of tits. Don’t know how all this relates to the title, but it all looks very convincing."
